Speaking for the Trees

Local Trees + Local Artists = Beautiful Landscape Paintings

“Fascinating Rhythms,” an oil painting by NTCC board member and Chestnut Group artist Judson Newbern, depicts a centuries-old Red Cedar tree at Narrows of the Harpeth. The painting is one of more than 60 that will be on exhibit during a September show and sale at the Jewish Community Center.

The Nashville Tree Conservation Corps and The Chestnut Group have joined forces hoping that you will buy a painting while helping to preserve the local tree canopy.

The Gordon Jewish Community Center (JCC) will host "Speaking for the Trees," an art show and sale from September 3 to September 30. The show will feature paintings inspired by local trees, and 20 percent of the proceeds will be donated to the Tree Corps.

The Chestnut Group is a local alliance of plein air artists committed to conservation, education and community. More than 60 paintings by nationally recognized Chestnut Group members will be included in the show.

Paintings may be viewed and purchased at the JCC, 801 Percy Warner Blvd., from 8:00 am. to 5:00 p.m. daily, or online.

It could be a long winter — add a bright spot to your home while supporting Nashville's tree canopy! Thank you for your support!
